Position Overview
Hyliion is looking for a Test Engineer to join our engineering team in Austin.  You will make an immediate impact with the potential of a leadership role. This full-time position offers the opportunity to be a part of a fast-growing company that is revolutionizing the trucking industry. Our team is comprised of leaders in their field. We are seeking exceptionally talented individuals that are highly motivated to revolutionize an industry , reduce the use of fuel and have some fun. 

The Test Engineer will be responsible for designing, delivering, and directing test systems to satisfy Design Verification requirements in support of all milestones and requirements.  You will write, maintain and direct test cases to support the development and successful delivery of innovative products. You work hand-in-hand with engineers, along with test equipment vendors, to support the company's product testing needs.  

  • Test cases for Hyliion software and hardware products
    • Write test plans for performance and reliability testing
    • Write test cases for product verification and validation
    • Specify Industry certification and safety test requirements and methods
    • Execute test cases and analyze results
    • Present Test Results, monitor product quality


  • Manage testing for physical abuse, safety and EMI at external test houses
  • Manage field testing assets, organizing and plan test execution
  • Interface with field testing facilities, plan and execute test plans
  • Procure, setup and operate various test equipment
    • Battery cyclers, testers
    • Dynamometer
    • Lab, Bench and automated test equipment
    • Oversee test equipment calibration and maintenance.

Requirements: Skills/Experience

  • Min. Experience: 3 years of related development or related test experience required
  • Experience with Automotive Engineering
  • Practical knowledge including test planning, instrumentation and set-up
  • Hands-on ability – you will work in both the shop and at the computer. We are looking for candidates that aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty
  • A team player attitude that will do what it takes to get the job done
  • Desirable but not required –
    • Experience in start-up environment
    • Experience with Matlab/Simulink
    • Knowledge of or experience with electric vehicles
    • BS degree or higher degree in Physics, Engineering, Math Computer Science
