Embedded Engineering Manager

Position Overview 

Hyliion is hiring an Embedded Engineering Manager.  This position requires you to be a player-coach.  As the Embedded Engineering Manager, you will lead the Software Engineering group while still being responsible for work on architecture, design, and coding.  Additionally, your work will include performing on-road testing, analyzing results, planning software release functionality and making an immediate impact on an industry. This work includes direct interaction with vehicle subsystems as well as the overall system.  You will need to be a self-motivated and a top performer to work in this dynamic and demanding start-up environment.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Own and maintain the budget, scope and project schedule.
  • Set direction and influence cross-department engagement for project execution and drive synchronization across multiple engineering teams.
  • Lead and contribute to technology development projects as a technical leader and as a team member.
  • Real-time control algorithm design and coding
  • Data analysis of large statistical bases
  • Working with hardware and software drivers to integrate into existing systems 
  • Algorithmic design, implementation and simulation analysis
  • Access US terrain data and predict fuel savings over given routes 


Required Critical Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field required, Master’s degree preferred
  • 5 + years’ experience with VCUs, ECUs and Microcontrollers – Matlab/Simulink
  • 5 years (or more) coding experience 
  • Multi-threaded state machine design and coding with C/C++
  • Embedded RTOS, LINUX, Pthreads, and Network Socket experience
  • CAN bus device control and data acquisition familiarity
  • Electric Vehicle knowledge
  • Safety Critical Embedded Systems knowledge 
  • Stability Control Software – Preferred
  • Start-Up Environment experience – Preferred
